Pitching Rules:

 

• Pinto: Pony pitch count rules apply.

NOTE: The pitcher will only be required to observe the calendar day(s) of rest for the threshold he/she reached during the start of that at-bat, provided that the pitcher is removed before delivering a pitch to the next batter.

When pitching in more than one game on the same calendar day, pitchers may pitch any combination of pitches in those games provided they do not exceed the maximum number of pitches for that calendar day.

 

Pitchers reaching their maximum number of pitches in a day while pitching to a batter, may finish pitching to that batter before being removed.

 

All pitchers become eligible at each level of tournament play, provided they have the rest as provided by the above pitch chart.  Rest is calculated as per calendar day.

 

Bat Rules:

USA bats only.  No exceptions.

 

Run Rules:

• All games, including tournament championship games, will be played with a “Run Rule” in effect. The run rule for all games will be as follows:

• 15 runs after 3 innings

• 10 runs after 4 innings

• 8 runs after 5 innings

 

Seeding Tie Breakers for Bracket Play:

• Head to head (if only 2 teams are tied and they played each other)

• Runs Allowed

• Run Differential (10 Max per game)

• Runs For

• Coin Toss

 

Home Team:

• Pool play  - determined by coin flip

• Bracket play - higher seed is home

• Home team will be the official scorekeeper.

 

Dugouts:

• Dugouts are first come, first serve.

• 4 Coaches Total in the dugout/Baseball field

 

Game Lengths & Times:

• Shetland game shall be 5 innings or 1 hour 10 mins

• Pinto games shall be 5 innings or 1 hour and 20 minutes

• No new inning will start with less than five minutes of game time remaining. (Does not apply to Championship Game).

• Games are subject to starting 15 minutes early if previous game is done.

• Pool play games may end in a tie

• Run rules apply in all games.

• Bracket Play Tie-Breaker. If a game is tied after all innings have been completed (or after the time limit). 

• Playoff/Championship tie breaker. Runner on 2nd 1 out.

• Championship games: run rules apply; all Championship games are regulation time except Pony.

• Tournament Director may invoke a modified tie-breaker, including in Championship games.

• Tournament Director may invoke shorter time limits, including in Championship games.


Courtesy Runners:

• A team may use a courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher at any time. Teams are required to use a courtesy runner for the catcher when there are two (2) outs in an inning.

• When roster batting the courtesy runner shall be the last batted out.

• The same player may NOT courtesy run for the pitcher and the catcher in the same inning.


Protests: 

• Protest Fee: $100 Cash only

• If protest is upheld and a ruling is overturned the protest fee will be returned.

• How to protest: Ask umpire for time, tell the umpire you would like to protest his call with the Tournament Director (TD) based on the rule. Contact the TD for clarification and pay the protest fee. The TD will make a final determination based on the rule you cite.  Protests must occur from the coach currently in the game and must be before the next pitch is thrown.


Scorecards:

• Both coaches are required to sign the scorecard after the end of the game. A signed scorecard is deemed accurate and final when:

A. The scorecard is signed and / or not signed and not protested immediately. If you leave without immediately protesting, the scorecard will be deemed accurate and final.

B. Do Not sign the scorecard if you think it misrepresents the result of the game.  If coaches are unable to agree on result of the game they must immediately protest the result to the Tournament Director. 

C. Tournament Directors will make a final determination.


Baseballs:

• Game balls will be provided for each game.

 

Ejections:

• All ejections are “plus one” meaning the player or coach ejected from a game shall not be eligible to compete or coach in the next scheduled game.

• Any player ejected shall be asked to leave the playing area immediately (he may sit in the stands, but not the dugout), but is not required to leave the facility unless directed to by the Tournament Director.

• Any coach ejected shall be asked to leave the facility and may not return until eligible to coach again (see “plus one” rule).

• “Plus one” eligibility for the player or coach may be reviewed by the Tournament Director, and the “plus one” rule may be upheld or suspended at the Tournament Directors discretion.

• Umpires are to report all ejections to the Tournament Director and indicate ejections on the official scorecard.


Sportsmanship:

• Umpires will handle unsportsmanlike conduct on the field of play. If an umpire has a problem with a fan or parent outside the field of play, the umpire shall go to the coach/manager of that team and request the coach/manager to handle the problem. If the coach/manager fails to handle the problem, then the umpire will eject the coach/manager from the game; he may also eject the fan or parent if he deems it necessary.

• The Tournament Director may remove a parent, fan, player, coach/manager from the facility at any time if he observes unsportsmanlike conduct; this includes verbal abuse of umpires. Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

 

Pinto Division:

• No balk, infield fly rule in effect.

• No leads, runner may steal once pitcher releases ball.

• If runner leaves early he must return to previous base unless thrown out. 1 warning per team.

• If runner leaves early a second time he is automatically out.

• If runner leaves early and ball is in play, runner is out.

• No dropped third strike rule. Runners can advance at own risk.

• Home plate is open.

 

Shetland Division:

• Batter shall receive 5 pitches from the machine or 3 strikes

• A batted ball that strikes the coach pitcher shall be considered a Dead Ball/Foul Ball. If a coach pitcher intentionally interferes with a batted ball, the ball is dead and the batter shall be declared out. In either case, no runners shall advance.

• 10 players maximum on the field (4 Outfielders) NO ROVER

• The player pitcher must keep one foot near the pitching circle and must be behind the pitching rubber until the ball is hit.

• Machine pitch only, No tee. Once a player hits the baseball, the coach pitcher MUST LEAVE THE PLAYING FIELD until play has stopped and time is called.

• Each team must bat their entire roster.

• 3 outs or 5 runs whichever comes first
